School to School: US children + Brazilian children

In 2011 the Kids for Environmental and Social Action (KFESA) put on a concert in Los Angeles, to raise funds to help replant the Atlantic Rainforest in Brazil. The result was 2,000 trees given to subsistence farm families.

As a result of the talks I gave at St. Nicholas School in São Paulo on Earth Day 2013, students donated funds to our planting partner, Instituto Oikos de Agroecologia and went for a field trip to plant some of the trees themselves!

In 2016 some of the students who’d put on the benefit concert in Los Angeles brought me to their new school to share the stories of our progress. Apparently we had inspired other projects to grow too…
